LINKS is a Foundation born from an agreement between Compagnia di San Paolo and Politecnico di Torino that has been operating for about 20 years at a national and international level in the field of applied research, innovation and technology transfer.

It is a dynamic and evolving reality that creates value for the territory and offers the skills of 160 researchers, 10% of which come from all over the world, a turnover of 16 million euros and a network of relationships involving more than 1000 partners in Italy, 2000 in Europe. From the processing of data made available by the European Commission in 2019, the Foundation ranks eighth at a national level as a research center for fundraising and first in the fundraising / number of employees ratio.

The Foundation oversees technical-scientific disciplines that fall within the fields of engineering and architecture such as Artificial Intelligence, Smart Data, IoT, Photonics and Satellite Localisation to carry out innovative projects in various application sectors : from Industry 4.0 to Cybersecurity, from Intelligent Mobility to Agritech, from Space Applications to Medicine and Well Being, from Smart Cities to Cultural Heritage.

LINKS aims to promote, lead and enhance innovation processes and research projects that have public utility purposes and which, based on the results of the research also conducted in collaboration with universities, combining with internal transversal and multidisciplinary skills, can create an impact on the territory while remaining in an international context. This includes the desire to attract talent and professionals from all over the world, creating a reference point for applied research and for the enhancement of scientific skills.

Integrating body and creator of opportunities for the Company, understood as a group of citizens, but also as Institutions, Public Administration, Companies and Investors, LINKS aims to enhance the lever of research and innovation, contribute to the growth of the shareholder economic system, activating wide-ranging processes and projects with significant impacts on the territory and establishing a dialogue with the local, national and international entrepreneurial fabric, with a view to sharing and enhancing knowledge, experience and innovation.

In particular, in the specific context, it can pool the skills and experiences gained, also in the international context, for the knowledge, management and enhancement of heritage and cultural assets (museums, theatres, archaeological sites, UNESCO sites), using innovative tools and IT solutions. Technologies used to interpret satellite images, IoT and sensor networks, drones, virtual and augmented reality can be used to support scheduled maintenance projects and specific high-level training courses.
